Instead, they threw not one, not two, but three birthday parties for him over the weekend, and another when he finally returned home. Each celebration was filled with decorations, presents, and an outpouring of love. Caregivers from the hospital, the clinic, and his community made sure that his birthday was a time of joy, not sickness.

Not everyone has that kind of support system.

We are reaching out to you, someone who wants to make a meaningful impact, to join our cause, to be a part of community work. We need volunteers and funding to support families facing pediatric cancer. When a child battles this disease, attending daycare becomes a challenge due to the risk of germs. If a parent can’t find someone to care for their child, they can’t go to work. Financial concerns already weigh heavily on these families, and losing income adds to the stress and fear they endure.

Families facing pediatric cancer are forced to continue with life as normally as possible. They must work to pay bills and provide for their families. Yet, germs become their number one enemy, making it nearly impossible to plan events or enjoy family gatherings. School, daycare, and even their workplace become battlegrounds where they fight to keep germs at bay.

Our solution: a 100% needed Volunteer Program

The Sassy Carmen Foundation™ is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a simple but powerful mission: helping families confronting pediatric cancer. We create joyful memories with ‘just-because’ parties, organize dress-up photo shoot fun days, and provide something even more significant—Carmen’s Light Keepers. These trusted individuals become a lifeline for families, offering support as buddies, daycare assistants, homeschoolers, and more. Every family is unique, and we ensure they have someone they can rely on—a person who genuinely cares about their well-being.

Our support extends to siblings too. They deserve love and attention, as much of it is often focused on their sick brother or sister. We believe in helping them grow without resentment or regret, even in the face of their own unique struggles.

Close-Up: Specific Ways in Which We Addressed the Problem

1. Helping Patients Stay Safe Away from Germ Communities: We create safe environments for children battling cancer, allowing them to enjoy their childhood without the constant fear of exposure to harmful germs.

2. Guiding with Positive Memories and Experiences: We infuse joy into the lives of these young patients through ‘just-because’ parties, dress-up photo shoot fun days, and other memorable experiences that help them focus on the beautiful moments, even in the midst of their illness.

3. Keeping the Whole Family Close: Our support extends beyond the patient. We believe that healing encompasses the entire family, and we work to ensure that siblings and parents feel loved, supported, and included.

4. Transportation Assistance Program: Our goal is to remove the transportation barrier so that families can access vital medical care without added stress.

5. Nutritional Meal Service: We understand the importance of nutrition during cancer treatment and provide wholesome meals to support the health and well-being of patients and their families.

6. Skin Care Home Bags Program: We offer skin care products and resources to help alleviate some of the physical side effects of cancer treatment, promoting comfort and self-care.

• Develop a Buddy System, Daycare, and Schooling System by 2027: We have ambitious plans to create a comprehensive support system, including a buddy system that provides companionship and assistance, daycare facilities that prioritize safety, and a schooling system tailored to the unique needs of these children. Our long-term vision includes dedicated facilities to enhance the quality of our services.
• In-Home Services: For families unable to access our physical facilities, we offer in-home services, ensuring that support is accessible to all.
